Slam poetry has always scored something special in my heart. It’s ability to pull the truth to the surface of a writer amazes me. The brave storytelling, gifted composition of words performed by vessels of life experience. Human being who become avatar-like when they shape shift into the person they once were in the past. Each poem is an amalgamation of many experiences, nuances, conversations, mental imprints, emotions and events with a unique outlook. Which raises the question, “do we ever write alone?” Yes we do. But it’s often a collaborative expereince of this thing called life. We will always find a way to spit, speak, create, express, and love with word. Love with word and if we are open enough we will never have trouble writing.
